Taking Of Paradiso

So the first Melbourne Infinity tournament happened a few weeks ago, and it was quite frankly one of the best tournies I've ever been to! Which is saying a lot considering I've been to nearly every fantasy tournament in melbourne for the last 6 or 7 years. This is probably as much about having a fresh take on tournament play as it is a fresh (more fun) game and new faces. Heres a brief run down on why the tournament was so fun.

Infinity WIP

The past week has been dedicated to painting in prep for "The Taking Of Paradiso" infinity tournament, i figured i'd do a quick update with some more near completed minis, as it stands i have 3 models left to paint and 1 night to do it, so its definitely do-able.. we'll see how it goes though!

Infinity, still the best game I've ever played.

I've been playing infinity on and off for about a year now, I've posted about the beginnings of my force before. But this game still holds the same initial excitement now after a year that it did when I first got into it and was under the influence of new game enthusiasm, and that's saying something.

VICC's and Grey Knights, oh my!

The Victorian Inter-Club Championships (VICC) were held over the weekend, and they are perhaps my favourite tournament of the year! The guys over at wargamers of Latrobe devised the idea a while back, and this is the second year my club has entered. Clubs from around Victoria come and enter teams into Warmachine, Warhammer fantasy and Warhammer 40k and the club who does the best across the board is crowned as the best wargaming club of Victoria! Dark Elves

My beloved dark elves, I've been playing them since the previous book when they were quite frankly rubbish, but i didn't really finish them off till the end of 7th ed. The models that drew me to the dark elves to start off with were the Executioners, so i decided to make the entire army a khainite army, hence the masses of gloss red armour, however i never did get around to getting witch elves, so its not a very themey army.

Night Goblin Hordes!

Army 2 in my "pretty pictures of painted stuff" posts, a ridiculous horde of nothing but goblins, not even orc bullys on the warmachines ( that would be cheating). This was and still is my "go-to" army for tournaments, The lions share of it was finished in 7th ed about 6 years ago, but since the latest army book came out in 8th ed its seen some revision, with more yet to come eventually.

Stunties!

So far all my blogs have been about random crap I've been building and converting, and the 2 dozen different projects I have going on all at once, between the 4(or 5) warhammer armies I have on the go, the 2 40k armies, infinity and now warmachine i have a lot to keep me busy. But I figured it was time to look back and show some stuff that's actually painted for once!

Dread Knight done right

So this is what the dreadknight concept art started out looking like, not too bad, i can deal with that right?  Sadly this is what the model ended up looking like...

Not exactly the most streamlined of machines, personally i find it to be a bit of a mess, it feels disproportionate and a hodgepodge of smooth plate armour and weird supporting scaffolding, and then finally there's the baby terminator strapped to the chest.. such wasted potential.

Fine-Melt?

So, I recently bought my first ever fine-cast mini, and figured I may as well give my opinions on the whole experience.

Finecast as a whole has been something that's caught a lot of heat (thankfully not literally or they'd have melted..hah sorry). It's been advertised to us by GW as being the best thing since the sliced bread wheel, better to work with, better detail, cures diseases, exfoliates, performs excorsisms of the most ingrained demons, you name it. Any way I've not been sold on it as a whole, I like my metal minis, and the fact that the "significant production cost decrease" was passed on to comsumers by way of a price increase didn't really fly with me either.

A long time between pagodas, Spartan progress!

So I'll admit it, its been a fair while since my last update! It's not because i haven't done anything, it's just that every time i got near my pc i'd have a little thing called skyrim, or battlefeild 3, or assassins creed, or deus ex 2 (to name a few) distract me. If i'm honest it's my fault for putting them right there on the desk top really..
